July 2, 2009: With the cold morning air blowing through his hair and a steaming cup of Tim Horton’s coffee perched on the dasher...well, not so much. But surely, our own Canadian ex-patriot Tim McAllister must have recalled this morning the fond days of skating the Kingston, Ontario rinks as he was the first one to initiate A-Game’s newly renovated sheet of ice on Rink 2. It was appropriate for Tim to make the first cuts, turns, and stops on the hockey rink given his years of commitment and care to the hockey program, the families, and the players who made "Southern Ice Hockey" the success that it was. Now, Tim and staff continue to refine and reinvent A-Game’s hockey program with a new focus and even new ice.
Under the attentive eye of Rich Cubin of Rink Specialists, the 3-week project of repairing the refrigeration tubing, re-leveling the sand base, and re-painting the hockey surface came to a successful conclusion both on-time and without major hassles, despite several around the clock days of work by Rich and the staff of A-Game. Attention now turns to Rink 1 where the same steps of melting, digging, repairing, leveling, painting, and freezing will take another 3 weeks to complete the long-overdue maintenance of the hockey rinks. The full schedule of ice events, programs, clinics, public skates, practices, games, and tournaments will resume July 27 on both sheets of ice. A-Game thanks all of its patrons and participants for their flexibility and understanding.
Yes, indeed, hockey and skating is alive and well at A-Game Sportsplex. Just ask Tim!
E-mail Tim your congratulations or questions about A-Game Hockey programming.
